A jury found Shamar Duncan guilty in the murder of Dutch Corporal Simmie Poetsema outside of a downtown Indianapolis hotel in August 2022. The jury found 22-year-old Duncan, of Indianapolis, guilty on all four counts: murder, two counts of attempted murder and disorderly conduct. Duncan's sentencing is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 24.
