Description
An Indianapolis man took the witness stand Thursday in his own defense, hoping to avoid being found guilty of murder in the deadly shooting of a Dutch soldier in downtown Indianapolis in August 2022.
Shamar Duncan, 22, admitted that he fired the shots that hit three Dutch soldiers outside the Hampton Inn at Meridian and Maryland streets on Aug. 27, 2022. However, Duncan said he did not intend to kill anyone.
Commando Simmie Poetsema was hit in the back of the head and died.
