IMPD is investigating after a man was killed in a shooting on Indy's near north side early Friday morning. Just after 4 a.m. Jan. 3, police responded to a report of a person shot in the 2900 block of North Capitol Avenue, near 30th and North Meridian streets. When officers arrived on scene, they found a man who had been shot. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. On Friday, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 53-year-old Charles Arnold Jr.. IMPD said a person of interest was detained at the scene but was later released after police said the person was found to not have been involved in the incident.
