Description
The Wayne Township Fire Department chief announced his retirement Monday, Dec. 30 — and a new interim chief was named.
Marc Reed became fire chief for Wayne County in July 2022.
City officials said Reed is credited with making "significant organizational changes that have saved taxpayers millions of dollars," including successfully transitioning the department's EMS services to Indianapolis Emergency Medical Service.
He also invested in new technologies, provided training for members and added an independent legal counsel.
“Two years ago, we lured Marc out of retirement, because the department needed someone with his level of experience, credibility and integrity to restore trust and he’s done that and more,” Wayne Township Trustee Jeb Bardon said. “On behalf of our entire community, I want to thank Chief Reed for the job he’s done here. He has left the Wayne Township Fire Department in a much better position than he found it.”
