Description
Flames seared The Sanctuary on Penn Christmas Eve morning, burning 150 years of downtown Indianapolis history.
The Lutheran church-turned-wedding venue was destroyed. The Indianapolis Fire Department is still working to determine the cause of the fire that started around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24 at the building near the intersection of North Pennsylvania and East Walnut streets.
And for many, the images of the building burning down were difficult to watch.
Hours later, as emergency demolition of the structure loomed, images are all wedding photographer Aireauna Medaris could muster.
She brought her camera to the fire site.
