Tuesday morning, IMPD announced the arrest of an 18-year-old after a shooting inside Castleton Square Mall on the city's northeast side Monday evening during a busy holiday shopping period. A man was shot in the incident. The suspect faces a preliminary charge of felony intimidation with a deadly weapon for his alleged involvement in the shooting, police said. Police were called to the mall, off East 82nd Street near Interstate 465, around 8:30 p.m. Dec. 23 by off-duty officers working security there. The mall was immediately evacuated after the gunfire. A department spokesperson said they believe shots were fired during "a disturbance between individuals who knew each other."
