Police are investigating after one person was killed and three injured in a shooting in Lafayette. The victim was identified as 35-year-old Keith Ford, of Lafayette.
The shooting happened Thursday night at the Lafayette Laundry laundromat in the 3100 block of South Street, near North Earl Avenue.
Lafayette police officers initially received a report of a man with a gun at the laundromat around 7:40 p.m. Dec. 5. Moments later, they received reports that shots had been fired.
Officers arrived to find four victims who had apparently been shot. One of the victims, Ford, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police described the condition of another man and a woman who were injured as "stable."
The suspected shooter, who is from Lincoln, Nebraska, has died after being reported in critical condition. Police say he shot himself. The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office identified the shooter as 73-year-old Louis McGlothlin and preliminarily ruled his manner of death as a suicide.
