Description
The Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police has announced it has ratified a new four-year contract with IMPD.
The announcement came Thursday, Dec. 5, with the Indy FOP saying the contract passed with a 97% approval following a record turnout of officers. It will be the largest contract in the history of the IMPD.
For example, a patrol officer with three years of service is currently making about $79,000. By the end of the contract, they'll make about $95,000.
Those with 12 or more years of service will make at least $100,000 by 2028.
"We want to thank Mayor Joe Hogsett for his commitment to retaining IMPD Officers, while competing with other agencies for new recruits, plus ensuring the IMPD is positioned for future generations of officers and their families," said Rick Snyder, president of the Indianapolis FOP. "I also want to thank the officers of the IMPD for their commitment and steadfast service to the residents and visitors of Indianapolis. Their professionalism is recognized across America and this labor agreement is a testament to their tenacity and their care for our community.”
