A push to speed up construction on a West Washington Street bridge has hit a major milestone. A petition drive started in August surpassed 3,000 signatures. It's calling on the city to prioritize and accelerate construction after the Indianapolis Department of Public Works announced the project's completion was pushed back to next summer. The bridge over Little Eagle Creek on the west side of Indianapolis has been closed for nearly eight months after the city realized the bridge was in worse shape than expected.
