One person is dead after an apartment fire in Greenwood Tuesday afternoon. A Greenwood Fire Department spokesperson said the blaze at Cambridge Square Apartments in the 400 block of Southbridge Drive, near County Line Road and Madison Avenue, was reported around 4:45 p.m. Oct. 22. A caller told dispatchers they were in a smoke-filled hallway and could not reach the occupant of one of the apartments. When firefighters arrived, they entered the apartment and found a person inside. The victim was taken to an Indianapolis hospital, where they were pronounced dead, according to the spokesperson.
