Description
A 55-year-old man died from his injuries in a crash after he allegedly led Brownsburg police officers on a chase that ended in a crash on the east side of Indianapolis early Monday morning.
Brownsburg police said Everette B. Mason, of Plainfield, had a warrant out for his arrest on multiple charges of domestic battery and resisting law enforcement, with the incident allegedly happening Oct. 13.
Shortly after 2 a.m. Oct. 14, officers located Mason and tried to stop him in the 10000 block of U.S Highway 136, near South Green Street.
Police said Mason refused to comply with all verbal commands by officers, who were in fully-marked police vehicles with the lights activated.
According to police, Mason verbally threatened officers and led them on a chase.
Officers chased Mason from the 10000 block of U.S. Highway 136 into Speedway, where police said Mason then got onto Interstate 70 eastbound. Police said Mason then exited on Emerson Avenue, going southbound, and he allegedly turned off his headlights as he approached Washington Street.
As officers were searching the area, they said they saw Mason's car crashed into a tree in the 300 block of South Emerson Avenue, near Brookville Road on the east side of Indianapolis.
