IMPD is investigating after a man was killed in a shooting on Indianapolis' west side early Thursday. The shooting was reported around 5:15 a.m. Sept. 12 at an apartment complex in the 3800 block of West Michigan Street, near Holt Road. Responding officers located a man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene, an IMPD spokesperson said. The spokesperson said a "person of interest" was detained by officers at the scene and taken to the department's homicide office for questioning. In an update Sept. 12, police said that person was released pending further investigation.
