Description
NOAA has placed Indiana in a drought for the first time since early April 2024. We made some big progress with rain this spring, but now we have dried out again.
About 15% of the state has been placed in a level 1 drought (lowest level out of 4). This includes roughly 500,000 Hoosiers. Lakes and ponds are starting to run lower and crops may have stunted growth in spots.
The majority of the rest of the state is "abnormally dry".
