Description
In "The People's Joker," a painfully unfunny aspiring clown grapples with her gender identity while trying to join the cast of Gotham City's sketch comedy program in a world where comedy has been outlawed. "I really do think I figured out I was trans by watching how Batman looks at Nicole Kidman in 'Batman Forever,'" Vera Drew said. "I remember going to see that when I was 6 and being like, why do I feel represented like this? I want to look like her. I want somebody to look at me the way Batman is looking at her." Screenings begin Friday, April 5 in New York City.
