Description

The shooting happened in the area of Rural Street and Brookside Parkway North Drive on the near east side of Indianapolis around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. According to IMPD, officers were attempting to take a 48-year-old male wanted on a warrant for multiple felonies into custody during a traffic stop. During the stop, police say the man got out of his vehicle with a handgun and exchanged gunfire with three IMPD officers, police said. No officers were injured in the shooting, police said. The suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.
