Description
Adrian Waughtal, Mason Fischer, and Michael Lanier were indicted in June for their alleged roles in the death of Sgt. Grant Candies who was struck and killed while attempting to stop a high-speed chase involving the teens.
Authorities said Candies was deploying spike strips on the Oak Harbor on-ramp to Interstate 10 on March 23 when a vehicle driven by Waughtal struck him. The teens continued onto the Twin Spans before the pursuit ended in a crash involving a New Orleans police vehicle on the Southshore.
Waughtal and Fischer were indicted on charges of second-degree murder, while Lanier faces a manslaughter charge.
