The family of 20-year-old Jameshia Selders gathered Monday evening at the Canal Street Ferry Terminal to honor her life and raise awareness about mental health. Selders was last seen at the plaza near the terminal over a week ago. Her body was discovered days later, nearly 17 miles upriver near LaPlace. Experts say that kind of movement is rare, if not nearly impossible, given the Mississippi River's strong current. Selders’ family says they reviewed surveillance video with detectives and confirmed Jameshia was alone when she entered the water.
