The story of a strained relationship between a controlling mother and her daughter unfolds during a summer in Spain in "Hot Milk." The 92-minute independent film is based on the 2016 book of the same name by Deborah Levy. "The producer Christine Langan, introduced me to it as an adaptation, and she said, 'Would you like to read this? Would you like to adapt it?' And I read it, and I completely fell in love with the place, the people, the complexity, and I said, 'I will adapt it, but only if I can direct it,'" said director/writer Rebecca Lenkiewicz, whose previous screenplays include "She Said" and "Disobedience." The mother and daughter, played by Emmy nominee Fiona Shaw and BAFTA Rising Star Award winner Emma Mackey, are searching for someone to heal the mother's mysterious illness, which has led to her using a wheelchair. While on her search, the daughter comes across a free-spirited traveler (Vicky Krieps) and is instantly drawn to her. "Hot Milk" is now in theaters. MORE:
