Description
Last year, on a cold, Saturday night in October, flames shot from the roof of the Manchester Apartments in downtown Indianapolis.
Emmy Hildebrand, the CEO of Helping Veterans and Families (HVAF), raced to the building, concerned for the veterans who called it home.
"I was all wet, and standing there on Pennsylvania (Street), thinking, how do we ever come back from this?" Hildebrand said.
The fire started around 9:35 p.m. Oct. 26, 2024, in the 900 block of North Pennsylvania Street, near 10th Street.
