After months of waiting, the sea lions at the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance (DZCA) are back with a splash as they have returned to a new habitat. On Friday at 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., the zoo will celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting of a new state-of-the-industry habitat for its California sea lions Luci, Ady, Gunnison and Maverick. Nick is set to return this fall, the zoo said. The sea lions have been a beloved species at the Denver Zoo for more than 100 years, according to the media release. The new habitat, Schlessman Shores, replaces Northern Shores, which started housing sea lions in 1987.
