FORECAST BY: 9NEWS Weather Impact Team Meteorologist Kathy Sabine An overnight cool front brought a round of severe weather before dawn today north of the metro area. Heavy rainfall, damaging winds and large hail were reported with up to tennis-ball sized hail reported near Wellington, and Milliken. Hail and heavy rain also reported as the morning commute got started across the metro area as well. A second wave of strong-to-severe storms moves off the mountains and onto the plains early, around midday. Rolling onto the I-25 corridor between 12-6 p.m., with large hail our main concern today and this evening. Although some of the storms are producing torrential rainfall. Some of those storms could be capable of producing golf ball size hail and 60-80 mph winds today. Use those hail precautions! Storms will cover most of the metro area and I-25 corridor this afternoon. It'll also be noticeably muggy (fueling these storms), though highs will only be in the mid-70s due to cloud cover. One or two storms could hold on after dark, but it'll generally turn much quieter this evening. Then, a damaging wind threat will be our main concern over the Eastern Plains.
