A helicopter and its crew struck a power wire while working on power lines and burst into flames before falling into a barge on the Mississippi River Thursday around 11 a.m. near West Alton in Missouri. The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed Friday that the aircraft involved was a Hughes 369D Rotorcraft, tail number N173AL. The helicopter was registered to Excel Helicopters LLC, a helicopter charter company based in Salem, Missouri.
