A firefighter and a police officer were injured as they pulled a driver from a car that crashed into a pond Tuesday afternoon. The crash happened around 3:45 p.m. Aug. 5 near East Worthsville Road and County Road 75 East, near U.S. 31. A spokesperson with the Greenwood Police Department confirmed fire crews removed one person from the car, who was the only person in the car. That person was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where the driver was pronounced dead.
