Greenwood police are investigating after a mother and her 3-year-old son were found dead in their home Monday afternoon. Police told 13News that officers responded to a welfare check Aug. 4 at a home in the 600 block of Greenway Street, near U.S. 31 and Smith Valley Road. Officers arrived and found the two dead inside. Neighbors told 13News the woman and her child moved into the home a few months ago. On Aug. 5, the Johnson County coroner identified the two people as 33-year-old Karon J. Clay and her son, 3-year-old Karter K. Clay, who both lived at the home.
