Description
The Westfield Fire Department will soon begin charging residential facilities for calling in firefighters to help pick up someone who fell down.
A city ordinance passed by the Westfield City Council will allow the fire department to charge $500 for the first three "lift assist" calls from a residential facility. After that, the charge will increase to $1,000 for each of those calls.
Residential facilities include places like nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
