Description
A Southwest Denver woman received electric bills 10 times higher than normal due to an Xcel Energy billing error that occurred when a new meter was installed at her home, according to 9NEWS Consumer Investigator Steve Staeger.
Edie Lindsey, who has lived in her home for nearly 60 years, saw her monthly electric usage skyrocket from about 1,000 kilowatt hours in May 2024 to 11,000 kilowatt hours this past May. The dramatic increase occurred despite her minimal power consumption in a home without air conditioning.
