Description
The National Hurricane Center is tracking an area off the Southeast coast with a lower 20 percent chance of development. The wave has moved farther offshore and models show little support for strengthening. Any development would likely happen well out to sea.
Further east in the tropical Atlantic, Invest 96 looks unhealthy as it struggles to produce showers and thunderstorms. It has a medium chance of developing in the next three to seven days as it moves northwest.. Models continue a track northwest through the weekend with a turn north later next week, keeping it over open water and away from the islands.
More systems are likely to form in the Atlantic’s main development region in the coming days and weeks, which is normal for this time of year. There are no immediate threats to the Gulf of Mexico.
