Description
Sterling Williams, the jail maintenance worker accused of helping 10 inmates escape from the Orleans Justice Center in May, pleaded not guilty today.
His attorney says Williams is being used as a scapegoat and was only doing his job.
Williams faces 11 charges, including 10 counts of principal to simple escape and 1 count of malfeasance in office. His bond is set at $1.1 million.
Four other alleged accomplices also appeared in court via Zoom and pleaded not guilty. Their next court date is August 19.
