The Third District Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire in River Ridge Friday night. Officials said it happened at an apartment complex at 525 Richard Avenue and the fire is under control. The fire forced 30 people out of their homes after 23 apartment units were "put out of service due to the fire," the Jefferson Parish Fire Department said. Red Cross is assisting individuals who need shelter. No injuries were reported.
