Description
The New Orleans Coroner’s Office has temporarily paused all autopsies due to a major air conditioning outage that has left its Earhart Boulevard facility too hot for staff to work safely.
Although the morgue coolers remain operational, the coroner's office said, the building itself is experiencing extreme indoor heat that prevents staff from performing autopsies. In a statement released Monday, Coroner Dr. Dwight McKenna said the decision was made “out of an abundance of caution” to protect both employees and the integrity of forensic procedures.
