Efforts to stop people from illegally dumping tires and trash near the Michoud Boulevard I-10 exit seem to be making an impact. But, neighbors and city leaders say, there is still a long way to go. Monday, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced it had written 81 citations for littering in a region that encompasses St. John, St. Charles, Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, and Plaquemines parishes. Nearly half of those were given for violations in New Orleans alone.
