Description
Government Shutdown 2025 Update | Washington, D.C. (Oct 14): President Donald Trump said he is “very unhappy with Spain” for not raising its defense spending to 5% of GDP like other NATO members, calling the decision “disrespectful to NATO.” He added that he may impose tariffs on Spain as punishment.
Trump also said his administration is using the ongoing federal government shutdown to close “Democrat programs we disagree with,” saying they “will never come back.”
Asked about troop pay during the shutdown, Trump said funding is secured and suggested a private donor offered to cover any shortfall.
