Description
A woman who was at the center of a 2024 kidnapping investigation is missing once again after being forced into a car at an apartment complex, according to St. Pete police.
At 7:15 a.m. Monday, 26-year-old Jayanna Clark was seen having an altercation with a man in the parking lot of the Crescent Lane Apartments on Gandy Boulevard.
Police said the man forced Clark into her own car and drove off, hitting two parked cars before heading north on U.S. 19.
"Investigators have reason to believe the man may be a former boyfriend and are concerned for her safety," St. Pete police wrote in a Facebook post.
In an update Monday night, police said they found Clark's Nissan Altima at 6500 Ulmerton Road. They believe she is now with the man in a different dark-colored sedan.
Anyone with information on where this car or Jayanna Clark may be is asked to contact the St. Petersburg Police Department at 727-893-7780 or text SPPD plus your tip to TIP411.
Missing woman Jayanna Clark was center of 2024 kidnapping case
Around 1:30 a.m. on July 18, 2024, Jayanna Clark was seen being "physically forced" into a car by two people at the Bordeaux Village Condominiums in Temple Terrace, deputies said at the time.
After searching for Clark for 18 hours, she and Jahvontae Bell, the man suspected of her kidnapping, were seen exiting a shed on the side of a home on 13th Street SW in Largo. Clark was unharmed.
"I'm relieved that this woman was found safely this evening," Sheriff Chad Chronister said at the time. "Now, our detectives will re-trace the steps taken by the suspect today and hold this man accountable."
Bell was charged with armed kidnapping, battery and four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, but he was not prosecuted.
