Description
A Weather Impact Alert has been issued for Friday, Saturday and Sunday as a tropical wave moves across the state from the Bahamas: https://www.wtsp.com/article/weather/weather-impact/tampa-st-pete-storms-rain-extreme-weather/67-ae9f76a4-ccc6-4fd2-b0fe-d2a4956f4b16
This system will bring widespread moisture and instability to the Tampa Bay area, leading to scattered to widespread storms each afternoon and evening, mainly between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Rain chances will be high — around 70–80% — but it’s important to note this won’t be a total washout. Still, any outdoor weekend plans could be impacted, especially by brief heavy downpours, lightning, and localized flooding in poor drainage areas.
While flood advisories haven’t been issued yet, they may be needed during periods of heavier rainfall. Expect the storm coverage to ramp up each day, especially late afternoon into early evening, as storms move west toward the Gulf coast.
Keep checking in with the 10 Tampa Bay Weather Team for radar updates and any changes to the alert timing.
