Sept. 9 on The Story: Just yesterday, Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson called on the county district attorney's office to release video of a high-profile assault that happened near the Central Library in downtown Portland late last month, pointing to a "serious discrepancy" between the video evidence and statements made by police about what happened. After DA Nathan Vasquez refused, the chair's office went ahead and released the video. The evidence does complicate law enforcement narratives about what went down between the victim and the three suspects — though how it will impact prosecution of the incident is still up in the air.
