Aug. 26 on The Story: In some parts of the U.S. where harm reduction strategies once had strong backing, leaders still in the midst of a drug crisis are turning away, according to a story from The New York Times. That shift in places like San Francisco and Philadelphia has coincided with an executive order signed by President Donald Trump which threatens to pull federal funding from entities which employ harm reduction as a strategy. Regardless, harm reduction still has a firm foothold in Multnomah County, where supporters have no doubt that it saves lives and helps stop the spread of disease. But even here, there are some who want to see the end of harm reduction once and for all.
