Description
Aug. 15 on The Story: It's been more than two years since the first of Oregon's legal and regulated psilocybin therapy service centers opened its doors, and there are now two dozen throughout the state. And because this is one place where it's legal to administer the compound derived from psychedelic mushrooms, researchers are now using it to complete studies, the first of which recently wrapped. One feature of Oregon's system is that the cost of admission is quite high, so this study paid for people with lower incomes to attend sessions, tracking how it helped with major depressive disorders. The outcomes, researchers say, were promising.
