Description
A new neighborhood store opened its doors next to Douglass Park on the near northeast side of Indianapolis. Outside, you’ll see murals painted of a young girl, the namesake of the business.
Shontae Davidson opened the variety and candy store, “Charlii Chewz,” in honor of her 5-month-old cousin, Charlii Yarrell.
In January 2008, Charlii was killed alongside her mother, 24-year-old Andrea Yarrell, 24-year-old Gina Hunt and her 23-month-old son Jordan in a home on Hovey Street, near East 25th Street and Ralston Avenue. Prosecutors said Ronald Davis and three other men went to the home to steal drugs and money, but the robbery turned violent. All four victims were shot to death as they huddled in a bedroom.
