Description
Less than 40 years ago, it was illegal to be gay in the military.
Inspired by Greg Cope White's memoir "The Pink Marine," Netflix dramedy "Boots" follows closeted Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer) and his straight best friend, Ray McAffey (Liam Oh), as they join the U.S. Marine Corps in the 1990s.
"I think that the real arc of the show is about human connection and self-discovery and growth and discovering things that you didn't know you were capable of and creating relationships that you didn't know were possible with people from different backgrounds and cultures," said Heizer ("13 Reasons Why," "Love, Simon").
The first season of "Boots" comes out Thursday, Oct. 9 on Netflix.
