Description
The first group of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainees have arrived at an Indiana state prison.
Miami Correctional Facility was set to receive 15 detainees on Wednesday, Oct. 1, according to an email from the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC). As many as 100 detainees could be housed at the prison before the end of the week.
IDOC has requested about $16 million to upgrade the prison to house detainees. The state plans to charge the federal government $291 a day for each ICE detainee it holds.
