An investigation is underway after a person was fatally shot Sunday morning. Police believe it happened around 11:30 a.m. in the 5000 block of Southeastern Avenue, which is near Emerson Avenue. Few details were immediately available, but an IMPD spokesperson said officers were investigating a report of a shooting at the Southeastern Avenue location when they learned that a person was being treated at Community Hospital East for an apparent gunshot wound. That person was pronounced dead at the hospital..
