Description
"Say it loud say it clear. Immigrants are welcome here!"
More than 200 people chanted that phrase Sunday afternoon during a protest against the use of Camp Atterbury as an ICE detention facility at Johnson County Park, which is just a few miles away from the military base.
District 9 U.S. Congressional candidate Brad Meyer organized the rally.
Hoosiers made their thoughts clear, with protesters making posters that read phrases such as, "No Hoosier concentration camps," "ICE out of Indiana" and "God loves everyone."
"If we allow one group to be segregated and not get their legal right then any of us can be attacked. We either hang together or hang separately," Meyer said.
A month ago, Hoosiers found out that Homeland Security can house undocumented immigrants at Camp Atterbury.
