Description
Taylor Swift is giving fans across the world a new album to obsess over: "The Life of a Showgirl." Swifties are known for dissecting her songs and lyrics — two Swifties even wrote a book about the way she writes! University of Denver English Professor Rachel Feder and musical performer Tiffany Tatreau are the authors of "Taylor Swift By The Book: The Literature Behind the Lyrics, from Fairy Tales." It analyzes the way Taylor writes her songs, identifying literary devices, themes and eras that align with each of Swift's albums. For example, they align "Folklore" and "Evermore" with the romantic era, and "Red" and "1989" with the modernist era. To understand how Taylor's writing has contributed to her fame, they look to influential writers of the past.
