Description
Tropical Storm Fernand formed Saturday afternoon far out in the Atlantic Ocean. The small storm has not strengthened much on Sunday as it drifted northward staying well to the east of Bermuda. It is not a threat to the US or any land area. It may briefly strengthen a bit in the next day or so when it will be over warm ocean water. It should then weaken by Wednesday as it moves farther north over cooler Atlantic waters with more wind shear.
One other disturbance, Invest 99, is east of the Caribbean Sea and approaching the Windward Islands late Sunday. Some gradual development is possible as it heads west this week, but most models keep this system from organizing due to hostile conditions over the Caribbean Sea later this week. The National Hurricane Center says Invest 99 will probably not develop.
