Description
Tropical Storm Erin has formed near the Cabo Verde Islands Monday morning. The track takes the storm west through the week. Eventually a hurricane is expected by the end of the week likely north of the Caribbean Islands. A big question in the coming days will be how close it will get to the US East Coast and Bermuda early next week (the week of August 18). We have more than a week to watch it as it crosses the Atlantic, but the trends have been encouraging. Plenty of time to watch, but right now A Gulf storm seems unlikely.
One other spot known as Invest 96L is farther north in the Atlantic and is struggling due to dry air. It should stay over the open ocean and pose no threat to any land areas.
