Description
The mother of a girl who has accused Jérôme B. of dozens of rapes criticises the inaction of investigators and the judicial authorities in handling a complaint filed in August 2025, which did not result in the main suspect in the Lyhanna case being summoned for questioning. “The justice system has not done its job. I don’t understand how you can wait a year for someone to die,” says the mother at a press conference in Toulouse, accompanied by her lawyer, Pierre Debuisson, following the tragic death of 11-year-old Lyhanna whose alleged killer had been the subject of several complaints. The body of the young girl was found last week after she went missing on May 29 near the southwestern town of Fleurance. The 41-year-old accused, the father of a school friend of the victim, had twice before been formally accused of raping a child. One legal complaint was filed in August last year, but the investigation stalled and police had not yet questioned Jérôme B. by the time Lyhanna went missing nine months later. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
