Description
It's a tiny, landlocked microstate with no access to the sea - and yet a rowing team representing Liechtenstein is making waves thousands of miles away in Hong Kong. On June 19, the Liechtenstein Princely Navy will compete in the city's traditional Dragon Boat Festival. Three times a week at dawn, the CEO of Liechtenstein’s multi-billion-dollar LGT Bank drives to the beach to paddle. Known as "Admiral" Silvan Colani, he co-founded the all-male team over two decades ago. Wearing uniforms marked "Navy," they have earned awards and royal visits, with their unlikely racing tradition officially and playfully recognized by the nation. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
