Description
Chronic stress, anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts are just some of the conditions that have become part of daily life in Ukraine, health experts say, as air raid sirens and deadly bombardments punctuate the air. Oleksandr Prokopenko, a police officer who a few months ago stepped in to help a woman on a bridge who seemed about to take her own life, says such cases "happen quite often". In a separate case, 23-year-old Kyiv resident Valeria Khimich attempted to take her own life at home last year after she lost her job and split up with her partner, whilst the country was experiencing its worst energy crisis since the invasion began. "When it all overlaps like that, it's really hard," she says. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
