June 1983 - Lucas arrested in Montague County for the murders of Kate Rich and Becky Powell. June 21, 1983 - Kate Rich murder trial arraignment, Lucas announces he’s committed at least a hundred more murders. Nov 10 1983 - Lucas found guilty of Becky Powell’s murder. He’s then transferred to Georgetown Jail in Williamson County, and was detained by a special “Lucas Taskforce” of Texas Rangers until 1985. Dec 27, 1983 - Lucas taken to Florida to tour crime scenes. April 2, 1984 - Trial for murder of "Orange Socks” an unidentified hitchhiker in Georgetown. April 18, 1984 - Lucas convicted for Orange Socks, sentenced to death June 15, 1984 - Lucas pleads not guilty for murders of Naomi Martin, Debra Sue Williamson and Elizabeth Ann Price (Lubbock cases) Nov 29, 1984 - Lucas tours murder sites with Irving detectives Jan 28, 1985 - Lucas brought to Dallas for psychological testing April 1-4 1985 - Lucas brought to Georgia to tour murder sites April 14, 1985 - Dallas Times Herald publishes huge expose about inconsistencies with Lucas’s confessions April 15-18 1985- Lucas is brought to Waco for a Grand Jury and holds a press conference where he recants all of the murders. October 1994 - A woman surfaces claiming to be Becky Powell - she passed a lie detector test and there was a lot of news coverage. It ended up being a hoax.
